A royal expert has said Meghan Markle will do things on her own terms when she and Prince Harry return to the UK after years in California, including taking acting roles she wants regardless of what her husband thinks.
Reports have suggested Meghan is considering a return to acting, with talks over a possible role in Netflix series The Gentlemen. Meghan first became famous starring in the legal drama Suits, and fans have often wondered whether she would act again.
Meghan to set her own boundaries
In an interview with The Sun, a royal insider said Meghan will likely operate on her own terms, no matter what Prince Harry thinks. More specifically, she will take the roles she wants, however they might reflect on the couple and the wider Royal Family.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers said: "I suspect that there won’t be sort of raunchy scenes and things, but I could be wrong."
He added: "I think it’s very unlikely because I think that she will consider that her mere presence in the series will justify the fee that she will be being paid and therefore there’s no need to go too far."
Boundaries and clauses expected
Vickers said: "Knowing her ways, I’m sure she will stipulate all sorts of things, and I think she is capable of putting all sorts of boundaries up."
He noted that actors are generally expected to follow directions in such series, but added: "If it demands somewhat more, I don’t know how to put it, more sort of inappropriate, perhaps that’s the right word, appearance by her, then I guess that will possibly happen. But I don’t think it will. I think she’ll be putting all sorts of clauses and boundaries in, because that’s the way she operates."
Meghan 'calling the shots' over Harry
Vickers said he believes Meghan will be "calling the shots" over Harry when it comes to any acting roles she wants to take.
"I imagine she’ll do exactly what she wants, regardless of what Prince Harry thinks," he said. "I’m not sure how much he’d welcome his wife taking part in inappropriate scenes in TV or series or films or whatever, but she’ll do whatever she wants, I guess. I think she’ll call the shots, yes, I do. Definitely."
Meghan is understood to be in early-stage discussions over a possible role in a third series of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit. The series stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, and is yet to be confirmed for a third season.
