Prince William's non-negotiable rule for public appearances revealed

Prince William is known for a non-negotiable rule he follows during public engagements: he reportedly never eats a full plate during his visits. The 44-year-old attends around 130 engagements a year, with days often packed with visits to many different people.

Likely inspired by his father, who is known to skip lunch, William reportedly also does not eat during engagements. An insider told HELLO! that he will enjoy a sweet treat or local delicacy every now and then, but William will never eat a whole plate during his visits.

King Charles's skipping lunch habit

It was previously revealed by Clarence House, on his 70th birthday, that the King doesn't enjoy lunch and skips the meal altogether. They said, "The (then) Prince does not eat lunch." It's unclear exactly why Charles skips the midday meal, but it likely has something to do with his busy schedule.

Discussing the monarch's eating habits, Julian Payne told the Mirror: "The King doesn't eat lunch; so, an early lesson I learned when out on the road with him was to have a big breakfast or bring a few snack bars with you to keep you going. The working day is pretty relentless. Beginning with the radio news headlines and a breakfast of seasonal fruit salad and seeds with tea."

The Mail on Sunday previously revealed, however, that the King had been advised by doctors to enjoy "half an avocado" at lunch.

William's breakfast and lunch preferences

William previously revealed what he typically enjoys for breakfast. In 2022, he said that he enjoys a "healthy breakfast" consisting of two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea. He also admitted that he sometimes enjoys a full English fry-up.

In a recent update on his diet, William said he often relies on others to get his lunch, which typically consists of a sandwich and water.
