Peter Kay sparked laughter on BBC North West Tonight as he gatecrashed the live weather report during his appearance on the programme. The Bolton comedian, 53, appeared on screen while presenter Molly Brewer was delivering her report on Wednesday (August 26).
Comedian interrupts live forecast
She was telling viewers about a yellow weather warning in force for the following day when Peter walked in front of the camera. The Phoenix Nights star, who had been a guest on the programme, then took a seat on the floor and said: "Go on Molly, I’ll sit here, I’ll not disturb you."
It is not the first time Peter's antics have interrupted the news programme. He crawled on screen while the late Dianne Oxberry was presenting the forecast for BBC North West Tonight in 2011. She joked at the time she would "come to one of your concerts and come on stage and just creep in alongside you".
Presenter given clicker
Molly tried to contain her laughter as she carried on with her report. She also gave Peter her clicker, and he changed the graphics on the screen before the end of the report. With rain forecast for the coming days, the comic joked with viewers to "get your central heating on now".
Special charity show announced
Peter's appearance on North West Tonight came after he announced a special Blackpool show to raise funds for a teenager who is in a race to raise £245,000 before Christmas to secure life-changing heart surgery. He added the one-off performance at Blackpool Opera House, on Sunday, September 27, to his final string of shows, where he will donate all profits to 'All In for Fin', to help raise funds for Finley Cormack's vital heart surgery.
The much-loved comic will take to the stage for the special 1pm performance, adding an extra date to his record-breaking tour specifically to support Fin’s fundraising campaign, which comes after he saw Fin and his family's situation and decided he wanted to do something to help.
