Peter Kay has announced a special one-off show at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday, September 27, to support a teenager's £245,000 fundraising appeal for life-changing heart surgery.
The Bolton comedian said he "had to do something" after seeing a news report about Finley Cormack, a 19-year-old from Prenton, Wirral, who was born with a rare congenital heart condition called Ebstein's Anomaly. Fin requires surgery in the USA, and his family set up the fundraiser "All in for Fin" to cover the costs.
Extra date on record-breaking tour
Kay will take to the stage for the special 1pm performance, adding an extra date to his record-breaking run of UK comedy shows, which began in December 2022. Last month, he announced a series of charity performances in Brighton, Cardiff, Hull and Blackpool, with all profits going to various charities.
The new Blackpool date will donate all profits to the "All In for Fin" campaign. In a statement, Kay said: "I saw a news report about the situation with Fin and his family, and I felt as if I had to do something to try and help them raise the funds. I hope people will support this really important event to help Fin receive the vital surgery he needs."
Family's reaction
Fin's mum, Clare Cormack, said: "We were bowled over when Peter called and told us that he wanted to support Fin! What an amazing guy that he's taken the time to do this - it's completely unreal. We are still pinching ourselves!"
