Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian's chief film critic, has shared his predictions for the 2026 Academy Awards, with Ryan Coogler's Sinners and Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another expected to dominate. Bradshaw forecasts Sinners to win Best Picture, while Anderson is tipped for Best Director.
In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan is predicted to win Best Actor for Sinners, though Bradshaw suggests Timothée Chalamet's performance in Marty Supreme is more deserving. Jessie Buckley is expected to take Best Actress for Hamnet, with Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku tipped for supporting wins in Sinners.
Bradshaw also highlights potential surprises, including The Secret Agent as his personal choice for Best Picture, and Little Amélie for Best Animated Feature over the predicted winner Zootopia 2. He notes that The Mastermind and Die My Love were overlooked in key categories.
Other predictions include One Battle After Another for Best Cinematography, Mr Nobody Against Putin for Best Documentary, and Frankenstein for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Bradshaw's full list covers all major categories, with Sinners expected to win multiple awards.
