Mike Tindall: Royal Ascot Procession a 'Nightmare' in Heat

Mike Tindall has opened up about the 'nightmare' issue at Royal Ascot, particularly during hot weather. The former England rugby union star, whose wife Zara is a member of the Royal Family, has participated in the annual daily tradition before and may do so again this week.

Royal Procession Challenges

Speaking to The Luxury Dispatch host Tom Chamberlin, Tindall said: "If it’s too hot, it’s a bit of a nightmare. The sweat is ongoing. Don't take the hat off, or it's like, a pool of water drops out." He also joked about misplaced hats, advising: "Never leave your hat in the toilet and forget about it. They're not cheap, and people know that."

Security Incident at Ascot

On Tuesday, Tindall and his wife were initially turned away from the owners' entrance after a security guard failed to recognise Zara, the niece of King Charles. A staff member later alerted them that they could indeed enter that way, and Zara appeared to take the incident in good spirits.

Weather and Attendance

The Royal Meeting at Ascot runs from Tuesday to Saturday this June, with temperatures in Berkshire expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius, highlighting Tindall's comments. The couple were joined by former rugby stars Austin Healey and Nicky Robinson.

Tindall's Views on England Rugby

Separately, Tindall has criticised former teammates for their concerns about a 'bad environment' in the current England squad after a disappointing Six Nations. On his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, he said: "Outside of one person, not one of them has ever f****** coached, so what the f*** do they know?" He singled out Martin Johnson as the only one who has coached at the top level.
