Lee Dixon Named Worst World Cup Pundit as ITV Fans Complain

The World Cup is in full swing, but many viewers are unhappy with the television coverage. One pundit has been singled out as the worst of the tournament.

Fans Express Displeasure with ITV's Commentary

This summer's expanded World Cup features 48 nations for the first time, with England aiming to end 60 years of hurt. England faces Ghana, Panama, and Croatia in the group stage. The knockout rounds begin at the round of 32, with a potential clash against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.

The BBC and ITV are sharing England matches, but ITV viewers have voiced disappointment. Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon have faced criticism for their commentary. Fans took to X to express their frustration.

@eggbassett1 said: "Matterface and Dixon are the worst commentary team of all time." @Binnsphilip added: "How on earth do ITV think Matterface & Dixon are their best commentator combo when they are consummately the worst of all broadcasters!?"

Lee Dixon was the primary target. @DanSpencer29 wrote: "Omg…. Lee Dixon must be the worst person I’ve ever heard on commentary. Just show a bit of energy and humour mate!!" @kimber74073 said: "Lee Dixon. Worst pundit on TV. How has he got a job in TV?" @andystevens007 asked: "Is Lee Dixon the worst co-commentator ever?" @bcotts9 added: "Best part of this World Cup so far is everyone realising how crap and useless Lee Dixon is as a commentator, bloke is comfortably the worst out there."

Matterface and Dixon have been ITV's lead commentary duo since Euro 2020, when England lost to Italy in the final. Dixon previously worked for the BBC and also commentates for NBC on Premier League matches in the United States.

England's first World Cup game against Croatia will air on ITV, as will their final group match against Panama. The BBC will broadcast the match against Ghana and likely the first knockout game if England advances.
