Leah Charles-King admits tough search nearly failed

A Place in the Sun presenter Leah Charles-King admitted she feared she might never find her clients a suitable property following an exhausting and 'tough' search.

In a repeat episode broadcast on Friday, June 12, mother Eileen and her daughter Kaia teamed up with host Leah Charles-King in Spain's Mar Menor in pursuit of their perfect home abroad.

'It's safe to say, it's not the easiest of property hunts,' Leah warned.

The duo had a budget of £43,000 and were on the hunt for a two-bedroom apartment within easy reach of the beach.

Although Leah had lined up five potential options, Eileen came with very particular requirements, including a strict no-stairs policy, with the fifth property ultimately being the one she decided to place an offer on.

The social care worker and mum-of-three from Birmingham had been harbouring ambitions of owning a holiday home for a decade, describing it as 'now or never', despite never having previously set foot in Spain.

She said: 'It's a beautiful part of Spain. I feel it's now or never, I've had this dream for about ten years, I've been saving towards it and I feel I'm now in a position to be able to realise my dream.'

Despite her long-held ambitions, tracking down a suitable property proved far from straightforward, with Leah quipping at one stage: 'If you don't like it I'm going for a lie down, I'm telling you straight.'

She admitted it was one of her 'toughest searches yet', before Eileen finally shared how impressed she was with the final property Leah offered them.

Eileen eventually decided to put in an offer of £39,000, before accepting the counteroffer of £42,150.

She said: 'It just feels amazing, I'm here at last.'

'I'm so happy for you and your family,' Leah replied. 'Congratulations to Eileen, Kaia and your new lives in the sun!'

She later added: 'Wow what an extraordinary search. To be honest, I didn't think it was possible. But Eileen kept using the word optimism and I must say, it was infectious. Well done ladies, you finally got your home from home and I wish you all the best!'

Leah returned to A Place in the Sun after being left out of two series, having first joined the show in 2021.

She appeared to share frustration at not being included in episodes of the series, when a fan asked if she was returning.

She replied on social media: 'Unfortunately not. And I won't appear in this current new run either, I'm afraid, Placers! But hopefully the next one.'

She added: 'Feel free to kick up a stink about it.'

A Place in the Sun is available to watch on Channel 4.
