Lauren Bennett's father, Richard, has spoken out following her death at age 36, revealing that the GRL singer suffered a "severe reaction to a prescribed medication" in the months before her death. Lauren died on May 29, 2026. Police confirmed on Tuesday (July 7) that they responded to concerns for her welfare at an address in Meopham, Kent, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Father's Emotional Tribute
Richard paid tribute to his "incredible" and "beautiful" daughter in an emotional Instagram post. Alongside a photo, he wrote: "It is with a broken heart that I share the loss of my beautiful and talented daughter, @laurenbennett, the love of my life and my pride and joy." He described her as "an incredible person and artist: creative, talented, funny, and as humble as she was beautiful." He added that she began performing professionally at just 12 years old and that watching her grow into the artist she became was "one of the greatest joys of my life."
Criticism of Medical Professionals
Richard criticized "medical professionals and NHS services" for a lack of support. He stated: "Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication. As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her. We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need."
Legacy and Family
Richard expressed hope that Lauren will be remembered for her remarkable achievements, beautiful music, and the incredible person she was. He noted that her legacy lives on through her daughter, family, and music. He asked for privacy as the family grieves. Kent Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been prepared for the coroner.
Bandmates' Tribute
Lauren's former GRL bandmates Emmalyn, Natasha, and Paula shared a statement: "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken... We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us."
