Josh Widdicombe has given the first glimpse at the new Strictly Come Dancing hosts preparing for the upcoming 2026 series, with just a few weeks to go until their debut.
Following the exit of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the end of the BBC One dance show's 2025 series, it was announced earlier this year that comedian Josh would take to the helm of the next series alongside presenter Emma Willis and professional dancer Johannes Radebe.
First-ever presenting trio
It makes them the first-ever trio to take to the helm of the popular programme, and the BBC said at the time that "they will preside over the Strictly ballroom in spectacular style this autumn in an exciting new era for the BBC’s glittering hit entertainment show."
The news was announced in May, and was shared on the show’s Instagram page with the caption: "It’s official…September 2026," and speaking about the history-making trio for the first time, Kate Phillips, the BBC’s chief content officer, said that their "chemistry is undeniable".
Preparations under way
With months having passed, the moment Emma, Josh and Johannes make their presenting debut on Strictly is almost here, and they are already preparing for what's ahead, with the new series set to get underway in mid-September.
Taking to Instagram, Josh shared a couple of new photos of himself, Emma and Johannes as they get stuck into their preparations for their new jobs. In one photo, Emma and Josh look particularly nervous as they sported gymwear and appeared to be in a rehearsal room.
Josh revealed more in the caption, as he told his followers: "Lovely couple of days in London prepping and learning a dance with these legends. Oh my, not long now…"
Emma Willis teases launch show
It comes after Emma appeared on The One Show on Thursday (August 20) evening and was asked by host Roman Kemp how she was getting on with her "brand-new TV husbands," as she appeared on the famous green sofa with her real-life husband, Matt. She responded: "Do you know what, great. For the last week, we've been spending loads of time together."
She then teased: "Today, actually, I've been in dance rehearsals," to which Roman and co-host Clara Amfo appeared shocked. Emma quickly laughed as she continued: "Look at your faces! That's all I can say. Wait for the launch show. It's gonna be fun. It's been great. I'm hugely honoured to be part of it."
