JB Gill, best known as a member of JLS, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from King's College London. The 39-year-old singer, real name Jonathan Benjamin Gill, returned to his alma mater on Tuesday (July 28) to accept the prestigious accolade.

Gill studied theology at King's College before joining JLS, who finished runner-up on The X Factor in 2008. He has remained involved with the university, attending alumni events and speaking at graduation ceremonies.
Sharing photos on Instagram, Gill wrote: "Big Day Today!! Officially presented my Fellowship of Kings College London. I’m so proud to have attended KCL and today was a GREAT day attending my first graduation ceremony, giving my first address as a Fellow and having my whole family there to support me. I love you and I’m so proud of myself #KingsCollegeLondon #Fellowship #Graduate #TheGills."

Reason for the honour
King's College London said Gill received the honour due to his strong relationship with the university and for using his platform as a singer, broadcaster and farmer to promote education, social issues and environmental awareness.
