All six episodes of Michael Owen's documentary series, Meet the Owens, are available to stream now on Amazon's Prime Video. The series follows the former Liverpool and England striker as he juggles a horse racing empire and a chaotic home life.
Meet the Owens follows a year in the life of Michael, who scored 158 goals for Liverpool and won the Ballon d'Or in 2001. He is joined by his wife Louise and their four children as they navigate the pressures of running a horse racing business alongside the everyday chaos of family life.
Horse racing empire and family life
Since retiring from football at the end of the 2012/13 season, Michael has built a horseracing operation he says comprises around 140 horses. However, keeping the stables afloat is a challenge as Meet the Owens reveals they could lose one million pounds this year.
“I was always exceptionally talented at football,” Michael says in the Meet the Owens trailer. “Football was my life, but now it’s horse racing.”
As well as Michael's family, the series also features appearances from his former teammates Jamie Carragher and Wayne Rooney. Meet the Owens is directed by Emmy-nominated Chris Wallwork, director of Born Racers and producer of Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues.
How to watch for free
Fans need an active Amazon Prime subscription to watch Meet the Owens at no extra cost. Those without a subscription can still tune in for free if they sign up for an Amazon Prime 30-day trial, which provides access to every episode.
Just remember that the subscription will renew automatically at the standard £8.99 per month after the 30-day promotional period unless cancelled. Amazon Prime members can also stream a range of sport and football series, including Doubters to Believers Liverpool FC: Klopp's Era.
The series launches days before Liverpool's first home game of the 2026/27 Premier League season, which sees them host Nottingham Forest on Saturday (August 29). The game will air live on TNT Sports from a 12.30pm kick-off.
There are also some last-minute tickets on sale through Seat Unique, which offers a selection of VIP and hospitality packages at Anfield. However, while prices can fluctuate day by day, these tend to cost more than standard match tickets, with the most affordable option currently £295 per person.
