Helen Flanagan has begged for schools to be reopened immediately after sharing a hilarious glimpse into her summer holiday so far. The Coronation Street actress, 36, took to Instagram with a candid snap in bed, seemingly run ragged by her young brood, and captioned it: "Open the schools."
Flanagan, who shares children Matilda, Delilah and Charlie with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair, added a list of things she has heard herself say recently: "Can mummy please wipe her bum in peace? Stop fighting. I am a person. I am not your 'bro' I am your mum. No treats if your not good. Can mummy just have 5 minutes? I love you so much [sic]."
Fans rally round
Fans found the post hilarious and rushed to the comments to offer support. One wrote: "You'll soon realise that you have another 50 years of this! Even as adults you will have the same demands!" Another agreed: "The 'bro' one resonates well with me. That or 'bruh' x," while a follower said: "I am with you my 3 year old is driving me mad."
An Instagram user added: "Across the nation .. parents look at their calendar .. they count the days, hours and minutes until they can say again .. 'see you after school darling.'"
Brooke Vincent's toilet ordeal
Flanagan's former co-star Brooke Vincent was clearly having the same struggle, uploading a video revealing she had spent much of her weekend unblocking a toilet. "How are you spending your Sunday? Because my Sunday now consists of unblocking the toilet because one of my children doesn't want to tell me what they've put down the drain," she fumed. "It's vile, absolutely ridiculous."
Right on cue, her oldest son Mexx - who she shares with Kean Bryan - appeared clutching a golf club, suggesting that "too many poos got stuck in there!" Brooke concluded: "In the middle of it all, while i was trying to sort out the toilet, my child has been shouting at me for the past 15 minutes to come and watch his golf trick. It's an absolute joke, my life." Alongside the video, she quipped: "It's giving open up the schools."
Mum-of-two on motherhood pressures
Brooke, also mum to son Monroe with the footballer, previously opened up about how tough she found her first months of motherhood. Appearing on the You Are Not Your Limits podcast, she said: "The two under two, I pretty much cried the majority of the first year with them because I found it so hard."
Describing it as 'so overwhelming', she insisted those hard times need to be discussed more publicly. "I think people do not talk about it enough," she said. "The pressure of having kids, one child, two, three, four, however many - and the needs that go into it, whilst you still also try to figure out what's going on with the world, with yourself … it's a big transition."
