Green Man, Wales' largest music, science, and arts festival, has sold out all tickets for its 25th anniversary in 2027 at record speed. With 25,000 people attending each day, it becomes the first UK festival to sell out for 2027, marking the fifth year in a row it has achieved this feat.
Record-breaking ticket sales
Tickets for the 2027 event went on sale at 10am on Saturday, 26th September, and sold out well before any programming or lineup details were announced. The festival, which welcomes 25,000 people each day, will return to the iconic Black Mountains in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, Wales, from 19th to 22nd August 2027.
As it enters its third decade, Green Man remains the largest music festival in Wales. This award-winning, seven-day event draws 25,000 visitors each day from around the world to the Black Mountains in Bannau Brycheiniog. It is also one of the last three large independent festivals in the UK.
Accessibility and recognition
In 2026, Green Man became the first outdoor camping festival in the UK to be awarded the Platinum Charter from Attitude is Everything. This recognises it as a festival that innovates, influences, and leads the live music and events industry in accessibility for deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent people.
Plenty of surprises await as Green Man celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, following another round of five-star reviews for the 2026 festival, which The Times described as “a Welsh Shangri-La, free of marketing and branding, where revels spill over hill, dale and walled garden.”
Organiser's excitement and festival offerings
Fiona Stewart, Owner and Managing Director of Green Man, shared her excitement about the anniversary: “Diolch, diolch, thank you, thank you to all of you wonderful people who bought Green Man tickets for our 25th anniversary year. Planning has started, and we can’t wait to unveil it all when you join us in the Black Mountains next August.”
Green Man offers a wide range of experiences, including music, comedy, literature, film, performance and installation art, wellness, and science. It also has special areas for children and teens. The popular festival is known for its great food and drinks and its friendly, welcoming community. It was also the first UK festival to sell out for the 2026 season, doing so in just 43 minutes based on brand trust alone, before any lineup was announced.
Economic impact and legacy
The festival is known for supporting and launching new talent. Artists like Fontaines DC, Michael Kiwanuka, Self Esteem, Wet Leg, CMAT, First Aid Kit, and Kae Tempest all had some of their first important performances at Green Man. Green Man brings £28 million to the Welsh economy and is one of the few large UK festivals led by a woman.
Organisers point out that its open approach, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and ever-changing programme of music, science, arts, comedy, films, literature, workshops, and wellness mean people of all ages and interests can "leave Green Man with new discoveries, lifelong friendships, and special memories year after year." Green Man Trust, the festival’s separate charity, stays active all year, supporting artist development, tackling inequality and poverty, and addressing the climate crisis by offering creative, educational, and social opportunities in the arts and sciences for disadvantaged Welsh communities. The Trust also provides community grants and funding for local social and economic challenges.
