Grantchester Star Teases Major 'Fall Out' in Final Season

Grantchester stars Robson Green and Rishi Nair have offered a sneak peek at the dramatic tensions awaiting viewers in the eleventh and final season of the beloved ITV crime drama. After 12 years, the show is drawing to a close, with DI Geordie Keating (Robson Green) and Reverend Alphy Kottaram (Rishi Nair) facing their last mystery together.

Final Season Preview

In a clip shared on Masterpiece PBS' Instagram, the actors appeared on set in front of a vintage ambulance. Robson declared: "Season 11! But, it's not just season 11, it's the final ever season of Grantchester!" He then let out a mock sob before embracing Rishi, before asking what viewers can expect for Reverend Alphy.

Rishi replied: "Oh, he's going through a lot. Up and down, he's in the gutter. We have a falling out, don't we?" A sneak peek showed DI Geordie less than impressed with Alphy's behaviour. Robson hinted at a possible successor, musing: "For Geordie, is it time for him to pass on the baton?" A further clip showed Geordie telling a younger man: "You're a Detective Inspector in the making."

Fan Reactions

Both actors admitted season 11 is the finest series to date. Fans flooded the comments, heartbroken the show is ending. One wrote: "All GREAT things must come to an end...but the last season will be relished." Another said: "Sad it will be the last season, but can't wait to watch." A fan suggested spin-offs, asking: "Maybe we can see what Will Davenport has been up to in Newcastle?"

British viewers face a lengthy wait, as the final season airs in America on June 12, with no confirmed UK broadcast date, rumoured to be next year. Seasons 1-10 are available on ITVX.
