Focus Features’ ‘Hamnet’ won Best Motion Picture — Drama, while Warner Bros.’ ‘One Battle After Another’ took Best Picture — Comedy or Musical and three other prizes to lead the 2026 Golden Globes, held Sunday night in Los Angeles.
Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Director and Best Screenplay for ‘One Battle After Another’, following his wins in the same categories at the Critics Choice Awards. The film also won the Critics Choice Award for Best Picture, cementing its frontrunner status for the 98th Academy Awards in March. Onstage, Anderson paid tribute to his late assistant director and frequent collaborator Adam Somner.
Jessie Buckley won Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for ‘Hamnet’, while Wagner Moura surprised as Best Male Actor in a Drama for Neon’s ‘The Secret Agent’. Moura’s win was the first for a Brazilian actor, and he dedicated it to “the ones that are sticking with their values in difficult moments.” ‘The Secret Agent’ also won Best Non-English Language Motion Picture.
Teyana Taylor won the first award of the night, Best Female Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for ‘One Battle After Another’, paying tribute to her “brown sisters.” Stellan Skarsgård took Male Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Neon’s ‘Sentimental Value’. Timothée Chalamet won Best Male Actor in a Musical or Comedy for ‘Marty Supreme’, and Rose Byrne won Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy for ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’.
In television, HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’ won Best TV Drama Series, and its star Noah Wyle won Best Male Actor in a TV Drama. Apple TV’s ‘The Studio’ won Best Comedy or Musical Series, with Seth Rogen winning Male Actor in a Comedy Series. Jean Smart won her third Golden Globe for ‘Hacks’, joking “What can I say? I’m a greedy bitch.” Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’ won Best Limited Series.
