Dobbies, the garden centre on the outskirts of Gateshead, has announced its plans for Christmas 2026, which it describes as its 'best ever' festive offering. The centrepiece is a Santa's Grotto that will take children on a magical journey through a North Pole Village to meet Santa Claus, with activities and grotto games along the way.

Each family will have the chance to spend time with Santa to share their Christmas wishes, and every child will receive a special collectible penguin soft toy in a presentation bag to take home as a memento. Tickets for the grotto experience, which launches on November 22 and runs until Christmas Eve, are already on sale, starting at £15 per child.
Santa's Breakfast experience
Families can also share a magical morning in the Dobbies’ Birtley restaurant at Santa’s Breakfast. The experience includes a visit from Santa, games, activities and a mini tree-decorating activity, all over a family breakfast. Children will also receive a special gift from Santa. The Santa’s Breakfast experience starts on November 28 and runs until Christmas Eve, with tickets priced at £16.50 per child and from £9 per adult.
People are being advised to book early to avoid disappointment. The announcement follows the release of dates for Newcastle Christmas Market 2026 and the annual Lights Switch On, as well as the sold-out success of the Christmas trail at Whitehouse Farm in Northumberland.
