Rihanna's cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin have introduced a new lip balm, the Fenty Skin Lux Balm Ultra-Hydrating Cherry Lip Balm, priced at approximately £16 for a 5g twist-up stick. The product promises to immediately refresh and shield parched, cracked lips.
Rihanna's Beauty Empire
Rihanna rose to fame in 2003 after being discovered by American record producer Evan Rogers, who brought her to the United States to record demos. She went on to release chart-topping hits including Umbrella, We Found Love, Only Girl, Don't Stop the Music, and Disturbia.
Over the past decade, the 38-year-old has shifted focus from music to building a billion-dollar retail empire, taking on Hollywood roles, and raising a family. Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin launched in 2017 in partnership with luxury group LVMH, revolutionising the beauty sector with 40 inclusive foundation shades from the outset.
The Lux Balm Review
The unisex lip treatment is designed to instantly envelop lips in deep hydration while bolstering the skin's moisture barrier throughout the day. Unlike high-shine glosses or oils, it delivers a clear, velvety, low-shine finish suitable for any complexion.
Its lightweight, sheer formula works alone or as a smoothing base before lipstick application. The packaging is more sophisticated than typical supermarket lip balms, and despite a higher price than alternatives like Nivea, the silky formula, impressive hydration, and elegant packaging represent decent value for money.
A$AP Rocky Collaboration
The review coincides with A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Athelston Mayers) unveiling a new Fenty Skin campaign titled "Don't Be Dumb", tied to his album branding. The campaign depicts the rapper as a street vendor pitching skincare products in a beauty salon setting.
The collaborative collection includes the Fenty Skin Lux Balm Hydrating Moisture Barrier Lip Balm, a limited-edition coconut-flavoured balm enriched with shea butter and vitamin E, designed to soften lips and reinforce the moisture barrier for up to eight hours. The collection also features the A$AP Rocky x Fenty Skin SPF Moisturiser with an exclusive hair roller case designed by A$AP Rocky, containing the brand's Hydra Vizor Invisible SPF 30 Moisturiser.
Customers can purchase a complete bundle including the moisturiser, custom case, lip balm, and an exclusive keychain accessory.
