An England star's wife lost her suitcase en route to the US, but still managed to steal the show at the AT&T Stadium in Texas as she turned herself into a stunning cowgirl.
England's Victory and WAGs in the Stands
The Three Lions roared to success with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Croatia on Wednesday evening, as their WAGs cheered them on from the crowd - including Megan Pickford, who had seemingly taken on the Texas spirit in a cowboy hat and light wash jeans.
Megan's Luggage Mishap
The stunner, who is the better half of the Everton goalkeeper Jordan, had been left without clothes earlier in the day. She explained in her Instagram story: "Arrived in America...My suitcase did not. Can I wear my 7-year-old's shirt for the game tonight or not?"
On TikTok, Megan added: "My top five horror stories. Arriving in America for the World Cup. My suitcase didn't arrive [and] now sharing my 7-year-old's kit. My husband plays tonight. The airline hasn't got back with when my case will come. But as long as we get to watch Daddy, cause football is coming home."
Fans React with Humor
Fans were quick to laugh with Megan: "Noooooo every girls worst nightmare! The outfits you had too, fingers crossed you get it back soon! In the meantime get that daddy shirt on girl" said one. "Not Megan Pickford wearing a daddy shirt, yes Megan!" said another. Ollie Watkins' wife Ellie commented: "Worst nightmare don’t worry I’ve got 3 suitcases full. Coming to the rescue." Megan jokingly replied asking if she had a spare toothbrush.
Making the Best of It
However, it didn't stop her from making it to the stadium, and in an Instagram post, Megan joked: "No suitcase mishap was going to stop me supporting my husband! Featuring the top I travelled in & borrowed jeans!" Megan matched her borrowed jeans with a denim cowboy hat - at the home of the Cowboys - as fans gushed over her looks.
"Gorgeous my girl," one fan responded. And another added: "Only you could look like this in those circumstances!"
Reunion with Jordan
And after a long day, Megan was reunited with Pickford in the crowd after full-time. Pickford, who had played his part in England's win, shared on social media: "Winning start. More to come. Let’s go!" Megan is renowned as one of the most glamorous and popular WAGs in the squad having met Pickford during their school days.
Thanks to Covid, the childhood sweethearts had to get married at a registry office in 2020 rather than in the Maldives as they had planned - when Pickford wore a tracksuit to the ceremony. Fortunately for the couple they later had the lavish ceremony of their dreams and Megan - who has two children with the Sunderland born shotstopper - always supports her man at England games.
