Deirdre Sanders Sends Message to Jeremy Clarkson After Cancer Diagnosis
Deirdre Sanders Messages Jeremy Clarkson on Cancer

This Morning star Deirdre Sanders has provided a cancer update as she sent a message to Jeremy Clarkson hours after the former Top Gear host’s diagnosis was revealed.

Jeremy revealed in the latest episodes of the fifth season of his series Clarkson’s Farm that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 66-year-old shared that the disease is ‘aggressive’ but had been discovered early.

Speaking to farm manager Kaleb Cooper and farmhand Charlie Ireland in one of the episodes released on Wednesday (June 17), Jeremy said he received his diagnosis in May. Assuring them that he believes he’ll be ‘fine’, he noted that he would be out of action ‘for a while’.

“Where it is is of no concern of anybody. I’ve known since May. I had a medical, you remember back in May. I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early so the treatment will be, you know.

“I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle,” he said when asked by Kaleb where his cancer is.

Later speaking to his co-stars, including girlfriend Lisa Hogan, Jeremy added: “So we started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer.

“We can dwell as much as we like on all the bad things that have happened on the farm, but I think it is better now at the end of the year to focus on things that have happened that are good.”

Hours after the episodes were released, Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard wished him well on the ITV talk show This Morning. Jeremy is one of the presenting duo’s ITV colleagues, with him hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Cat said: “Jeremy later confirmed that he's being treated for prostate cancer; we're all sending out love to him and his family.”

Deirdre was then introduced, who was hosting a phone-in segment about dealing with a serious diagnosis. The This Morning fan favourite received her initial cancer diagnosis in 2022, which was found in her right breast.

Sadly, she received a second diagnosis after a lump was discovered in her left breast in 2024. The 81-year-old’s cancer was found during an annual mammogram.

Asked by Ben if Jeremy’s admission brought back memories for her, Deirdre said: “Yeah, it's true. A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in my breast.

“But the good thing is, like Jeremy's, it was caught early. I had a lumpectomy, I had radiotherapy, I'm still on drug treatment for it, but I feel fine.

“I so, so hope that Jeremy also has such a good outcome. The great thing is, he has been caught early, too.”

Previously speaking on This Morning about getting a second cancer diagnosis, Deirdre said: “To be honest, the symptoms I had the first time were a coincidence and not actually a symptom of the cancer, as it turns out.

“An efficient GP put me on the cancer pathway, and I got a very rapid check and treatment. I've felt well, I haven't felt tired or run down… I couldn't feel anything, it's very tiny, so there's nothing to feel. It's purely down to the mammogram, which showed it up. I had an ultrasound and a biopsy, and it revealed it was cancer.”
