Daniel Radcliffe, best known for playing Harry Potter, appeared in a recent Instagram video meeting fans, but many viewers were more captivated by his bodyguard. The clip, shared by Instagram user Alona (@girlfromjerseycity), shows Radcliffe in a black t-shirt and grey jeans, signing autographs and posing for selfies. However, an overlaid caption reads: "Daniel Radcliffe is cool and all... but can we discuss the bodyguard?" Alona added: "At this point, the bodyguard has his own fanbase."
Bodyguard's Appearance Sparks Online Frenzy
The bodyguard, wearing a dark blue t-shirt, jeans, and sunglasses, is seen keeping a close watch on Radcliffe while directing fans when to approach. His chiselled features and bulging biceps drew immediate attention. One fan commented: "Is the bodyguard single? Asking for a friend." Another wrote: "Hey Daniel, can you take a pic of me and your bodyguard. Thanks man." A third said: "Amazing how you have a famous Hollywood star, but all we see is his hulking, beautiful bodyguard." Some compared him to True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgård, while others praised his professionalism. One user noted: "His bodyguard is a pro. He's keeping awareness of all the surrounding up to identifying a kid waiting for a photo and helping his protectee engage with his fans in a healthy way that allows him to enjoy the best of stardom while being safe. Hats off to that guy."
Radcliffe's Career and Personal Journey
Radcliffe, now 36, rose to fame at age 12 when he first played Harry Potter in 2001's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He reprised the role seven more times over the next decade, with the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part Two, released in 2011. Since then, he has taken on diverse stage and screen roles, winning a Tony Award in 2024 for the musical Merrily We Roll Along. Most recently, he performed the one-man play Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway, earning his second Tony nomination. Radcliffe has been open about his past struggles with alcohol, developing a drinking problem in his teens to cope with fame. He has been sober since 2013 and credits his partner, American actress Erin Darke, with whom he shares a son, for his stability. Speaking to the Mirror earlier this year, he said: "She has been a huge part of my happiness - and having a child. There is something about being truly known and understood by another human being. That is why love exists. You can’t emphasise how wonderful that is." He also admitted he finds it hard to watch his early Harry Potter films, saying: "When I was 18 I would cringe watching the early ones. Now I think the early films are sweet and I cringe watching myself when I was 18."
