BBC Countryfile farmer Frank Carr has died at the age of 35. Frank was a fourth-generation farmer at Lee Gate Farm in Malhamdale, North Yorkshire, and had hundreds of breeding cattle and more than 1,000 sheep.
Countryfile appearances
He appeared on Countryfile alongside host Adam Henson to show viewers the realities of lambing season, with newborn lambs joining him on the show.
Frank's death was announced by Farmers Guardian on social media, with a statement that read: "Farming more than 2,000 acres of owned and rented land in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Frank worked alongside his family running a substantial beef and sheep enterprise, with around 250 breeding cows and 1,300 breeding ewes, as well as store and finished cattle."
Industry tributes
The statement continued: "Looking out across the vast landscape, he spoke with pride about the heritage of the farm and his determination to carry it forward. That commitment to the next generation was something Frank embodied."
Farmers Guardian editor Katie Jones said: "For those who met Frank through his farming, his work with the industry or his appearances in the farming media, he will be remembered not only as a talented young farmer but as someone who represented the very best of the next generation - committed to his family, his livestock, his land and the future of British farming."
She added: "He was a true friend of FG. His loss, at just 35, is immeasurably sad."
Campaign work and fan tributes
As well as appearing on Countryfile, Frank filmed a segment for the publication as part of its Next Generation Hill Farmers series, and was a campaign ambassador for #Farm24.
Tributes flooded in from fans, with one writing on Instagram: "Sending so much love to this beautiful soul's family and friends." Another echoed: "So very sorry, sending love to his friends and family."
A third said: "How tragic, he was so young. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends." Another fan posted: "A tragic loss for the farming community. I don't know the circumstances but my love to his family and close friends."
