Coronation Street emerged as the standout winner at the Inside Soap Awards, taking home eight awards including Best Soap. The ITV programme's success reflects a year dominated by hard-hitting storylines such as David Platt's rape and Aidan Connor's suicide.
Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, won Best Actor, while Connor McIntyre and Mollie Winnard were named Best Bad Boy and Best Bad Girl respectively for their roles as Pat Phelan and Kayla Clifton. Simon Gregson and Dolly-Rose Campbell also won in the funniest categories for their portrayals of Steve McDonald and Gemma Winter.
Emmerdale secured four awards, with Emma Atkins winning Best Actress for her role as Charity Dingle and Ash Palmisciano taking Best Newcomer for playing Matty Barton. Danny Miller won the Soap Superstar category for his portrayal of Aaron Dingle.
EastEnders was recognised for Best Show-Stopper with the stabbing attack storyline involving Shakil and Keegan, and Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright won Best Partnership for their roles as Mick and Linda Carter.
Other winners included Holby City for Best Drama Storyline (hospital shooting), Doctors for Best Daytime Soap, Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe for Soap Superstar, and Casualty's Chelsea Halfpenny for Best Drama Star. Home and Away's Ray Meagher won Best Daytime Star.
