Charlotte Tilbury wedding lipstick 'didn't budge for hours'

A bride has praised Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk Original lipstick for lasting through her wedding day, saying it 'didn't budge for hours' and left her lips feeling hydrated. The £29.50 lipstick, which comes in a moisturising matte finish, was worn from an 8am application through the 12pm ceremony and beyond, with just two top-ups across the whole day.

A classy, long-lasting choice

Writing for What's On, Emily Sleight explained that for her 2024 wedding she wanted a lipstick that 'lasts longer but looks classy'. Her wedding makeup artist recommended the Charlotte Tilbury shade, which she described as a 'perfect neutral colourway' that was slightly paler and more 'pinky' than her usual go-to, MAC Velvet Teddy.

The lipstick's 'moisturising modern-matte finish' was a key selling point, as it wasn't too matte and avoided the dry feeling she'd experienced with other brands. Charlotte Tilbury's formula hydrates with lipstick tree extract, ensuring a soft look.

Lasted through the celebrations

The lipstick was applied at 8am with a lipliner, topped up at 11am for pictures, and lasted through the 12pm ceremony. Emily reapplied it before dinner at 2pm and again before the evening party, noting that her lips 'didn't feel dry or crusty once' as the day went on.

'There's nothing worse than a lipstick fading, especially for photographs, but this Charlotte Tilbury one truly didn't budge for hours,' she wrote.

Shopper reviews and alternatives

Reviews for the lipstick on the Charlotte Tilbury website were largely positive. One shopper said: 'I bought this recently. Extremely impressed. Normally use a different brand an have done for years. I only bought this because I had been very kindly gifted a voucher for my birthday. Extremely impressed with the lipstick. Staying power is much better than previous brand I used. Looks really pretty on. Especially when I've done my tan!'

Another wrote: 'My staple line purchase from CT. I don't use any other lipstick! Spot-on natural colour and quality.' A third fan said: 'This really is a classic for a reason. I've tried so many other colours in CT Lipsticks but this really is so pretty.' A fourth shopper, who also wore it for their wedding, added: 'This lipstick is the absolute perfect nude color for every skin tone. It was actually my wedding lipstick color, the appearance is really nice and natural.'

Not all feedback was glowing, however. A two-star review read: 'I love this lipstick it's my second one. The only problem is that it does not stay on too long. I have to top up several times. But other than that it's smooth and soft. But I'd say too expensive!'

Despite that, Emily said she didn't see a problem with topping up a few times and found it lasted longer than competitors. For a cheaper alternative, Boots sells the W7 Lip Culture Soft Satin Lipstick for £4, while the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Les Nus Satin lipstick is available for £9.99 in a 'long-lasting' finish with an argan oil infused formula.
