Former Casualty star Sunetra Sarker has opened up about the possibility of reprising her role as Dr Zoe Hannah for the show's 40th anniversary this September. The 52-year-old actress played the fan-favourite character from December 2007 to May 2016, later returning for guest appearances in 2018 and 2024.
Teasing a Return
At the recent British LGBT Awards, Sarker was asked exclusively by Express.co.uk whether fans could expect to see Zoe again. Laughing, she said: "Zoe's running the world somewhere in another hospital, I think. When she does come back, she only creates chaos, so probably best she stays away for a while."
Life After Casualty
Since leaving the show, Sarker has balanced acting with presenting, becoming a regular on Loose Women in 2021. However, she admits her heart remains with acting: "I do love the characters I've had a chance to play... Zoe in particular."
Reflecting on her diverse roles, she added: "I've played the girl next door in different guises – the sassy doctor, prim solicitors, and dinner ladies who suddenly don't speak English well. I've had a really lovely time with the acting."
Future Ambitions
When asked about documentaries, Sarker pondered: "Would people take me seriously? I'd like to do a documentary on something I'd like to learn about – connections, personal relationships, and how people solve issues. In another lifetime, I'd have been a therapist or counsellor."
Casualty's 40th anniversary episodes are rumoured to feature the return of iconic character Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, sparking speculation about other fan favourites.
