Bruno Fernandes was crowned the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year, completing a clean sweep of individual honours for the 2025-26 season. The Manchester United captain had already been voted the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year in May after a record-breaking campaign in which he registered 21 Premier League assists, surpassing the previous record jointly held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
The Portugal midfielder beat strong competition despite United not winning a trophy last year, with the award carrying extra significance as the vote comes from his fellow professionals.
Shortlist and other winners
The six-strong shortlist was Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal), David Raya (Arsenal) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).
Manchester City striker Bunny Shaw took the women's award after also winning the FWA prize in May. She scored 21 goals last season, won the Golden Boot and helped City end Chelsea's grip on the WSL title.
Team of the Year selections
Arsenal had five players in the PFA Team of the Year: Rice, Raya, Gabriel, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba. Four City players made the cut: Nico O'Reilly, Haaland, Antoine Semenyo and Cherki. Brentford striker Igor Thiago was also included after a breakthrough season that earned him a place in Brazil's World Cup squad.
Manchester City defender O'Reilly was voted Young Player of the Year after winning a domestic cup double and starring at the World Cup. Arsenal's Olivia Smith received the women's Young Player of the Year award.
Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney OBE received merit awards for their services to the game. Dalglish won eight First Division titles and three European Cups in 515 appearances for Liverpool, while Carney has built a broadcasting career and was appointed by the UK Government to chair an independent review in 2023.
