Brooklyn Beckham has faced heavy criticism for his digs at his parents in a new World Cup advert for delivery company DoorDash. The amateur chef and photographer's promotional video pokes fun at his parents David and Victoria Beckham and their very public feud, leaving the family devastated, according to sources.
Ad Campaign Sparks Controversy
In the ad, Brooklyn is seen sitting on his couch, saying: 'You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home.' He then chuckles and throws his World Cup tickets onto a coffee table, adding: 'It's a long story.' The words 'It's complicated, more soon' appear on screen alongside the unused tickets and poignant digs at his famous family.
A source said: 'To do an ad based on estrangement from family as if it's a joke when his family is devastated and sister and grandparents are inconsolable … It just seems a tad hypocritical from someone claiming to want peace and privacy and then trying to cash in on it all.'
Digs at Family in the Ad
Unused World Cup Tickets
The ad prominently features unused World Cup tickets, a pointed reference to David Beckham's football legacy. David, a footballing legend, has been a mainstay at the World Cup this year and played in three World Cups (1998, 2002, 2006). The tickets highlight Brooklyn's absence from the event, despite living in North America where the tournament is taking place.
Expensive Watch from Dad
Despite their fallout, Brooklyn wears an expensive watch resembling the £250,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus his father gave him for his 21st birthday. The watch on the table in the ad is a swipe at the luxury item he continues to show off despite the estrangement.
Burnt Pizza and Old Camera
The table also features a burnt pizza and a camera, nodding to critics of Brooklyn's career changes. He has tried photography (releasing a book titled 'What I See') and cooking (with a series 'Cooking with Brooklyn'), but has faced criticism for lack of professional training.
Unopened Letters
Unopened letters on the table serve as a devastating swipe at his family. Reports indicate that Brooklyn has asked his family to contact him only through lawyers, and his sister Harper once delivered a letter in person but got no answer as Brooklyn was in New York with his wife Nicola Peltz.
The ad has left the Beckham family reeling, with sources saying they are 'devastated' by Brooklyn's decision to mock a deep-rooted family situation for commercial gain.
