The BBC One Northern Ireland drama series Hope Street is set to return as a major feature film, titled One Of Our Own – A Hope Street Film, which aims to tie up loose ends for fans. The movie will see the return of fan-favorite character PC Callum McCarthy, played by Niall Wright, who left the series after its fourth season. Filming began this week in Donaghadee, with a theatrical release scheduled for Northern Ireland in September and across the UK in October 2026.
Plot and Cast Details
The film revolves around a violent crime committed against a beloved local resident, prompting a police investigation led by DS Marlene Pettigrew (Kerri Quinn), who receives troubling news. A wedding is also in store, sparking speculation among viewers. The cast includes returning stars such as Tara-Lynne O’Neill (Eve Dunlop), Niamh McGrady (Nicole Devine-Dunwoody), Marcus Onilude (Luke Jackson), Cameron Cuffe (Donal Gallagher), Katie Shortt (Brandi McClure), Eleanor Methven (Lois Dunlop), Paddy Jenkins (Seamie McCarthy), Jonny Grogan (Ross Dunlop), and RhéAna Kamalu (Chloe Jackson). New additions include comedian Paddy Radd, actress Letitia Hector, and Tim McGarry from Give My Head Peace. Notably, Finnian Garbutt, who portrayed PC Ryan Power, filmed scenes for the special prior to his passing earlier this year.

Series Background
Hope Street first premiered in 2021, following new detective Leila Hussain (Amara Karan) as she arrived in the fictional town of Port Devine. Subsequent series introduced corrupt officer Al Quinn (Stephen Hagan), detective Jo Lipton (Karen Hassan), and later Inspector Eve Dunlop (Tara Lynne O’Neill). The fifth series saw the arrival of PC Donal Gallagher (Cameron Cuffe). The film marks the first on-screen interaction between Callum and Donal. All five series are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
