The BBC has released a trailer for the upcoming new series of its hit police drama Vigil, and fans are already gripped by the 'chilling' footage.
Return of Vigil
Police thriller Vigil, featuring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie, is set to return for a six-episode run. The drama was shot on location in Svalbard and Scotland. This latest chapter sees DCI Amy Silva (Suranne) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose) thrust into a fresh investigation. A synopsis reveals it 'takes them to a remote Arctic research station after a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead'.
It adds: 'Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.'
Teaser Details
The teaser shows DCI Silva navigating through Arctic snowscapes, armed men and an ominous biohazard alert, while the narrator warns: 'In the Arctic, you don't understand what's coming.'
Additional cast members for the third series include Gary Lewis (DS Robertson) and Dominic Mafham (Sir Ian Dowing), who are both returning to their roles. Fresh faces joining the production include The Trip's Jeppe Beck Laursen and three actors from crime series Shetland - Steven Miller, Killian Coyle and Dawn Sievewright. Naomi Yang from Under Salt Marsh, Benjamin Wainwright from Maigret and Derek Riddell, recognised for programmes including Industry and Happy Valley, will also feature in the series.
