BBC star Heather Alexander has passed away following a short illness, leaving fans and loved ones heartbroken. The dancer, whose moves were once deemed too sexy for television, was an original member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip, which featured on the BBC from the late 1970s. The group was choreographed by former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips many years before the ballroom show hit screens.
Chart Success and Acting Career
Heather's group reached number six in the music charts with the 1978 hit 'I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper.' Despite this success, she left in 1981 and pursued a successful acting career, working alongside television legends like Sir David Jason. She also appeared in shows such as Wizbit, Makepeace, and Dempsey.
Tributes Pour In
Her agents, Goldmans Management, said in a statement: 'It is with much sadness that we bring you the news that our wonderful client Heather Alexander passed away last weekend following a short illness. Heather was a fighter to the end and lived her life to the full, not letting on how poorly she was. In the last year, she was still fully committed to her wonderful one-woman shows, getting 5-star reviews and making plans for their future runs.'
Writing a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, the Rye Players shared: 'We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing away of the wonderful Heather Alexander, a friend and inspiration to so many of us. Fly high, lovely lady. Your beauty and extraordinary talent will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.'
