Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler's Sinners dominated the Bafta nominations announced on Tuesday for the 2026 Bafta Film Awards. One Battle After Another leads with 14 nominations, including Best Film, Director and Adapted Screenplay. This is the second-highest tally in Bafta history, behind Richard Attenborough's Gandhi which earned 16 in 1983.
Sinners secured 13 nominations, including Best Director and Original Screenplay for Coogler. Michael B. Jordan received his first Bafta nomination in the Best Actor category, while Wunmi Mosaku was nominated for Best Actress. Both films are distributed by Warner Bros.
Following closely are Hamnet and Marty Supreme with 11 nominations each. Paul Mescal and Timothée Chalamet are both nominated for Best Actor, while Chloé Zhao and Josh Safdie are among the Best Director nominees. Frankenstein and Sentimental Value earned eight nominations each, while Bugonia and British hit I Swear received five.
Eight first-time nominees feature in the performance categories, including Jordan, Robert Aramayo, Odessa A'zion, Rose Byrne, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti. Infiniti is also nominated for the Bafta Rising Star Award. In the Best Director category, Coogler and Safdie are first-time nominees.
The 2026 Bafta Film Awards will take place on 22 February. The full list of nominations includes films such as 28 Years Later, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Die My Love, and The Ballad of Wallis Island.
