Manchester United midfielder Andrey Santos married his childhood sweetheart, Yngryd Freire, at the age of 19 in Brazil in 2023, and later spoiled her with a lavish birthday gift.
The 22-year-old Brazilian could make his competitive United debut against Hull City on Saturday after arriving from Chelsea for a fee that could rise to £50million. Santos has already gained considerable experience, having signed for Chelsea as a teenager from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama, with loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Chelsea's French sister club, Strasbourg.
Wedding and birthday celebrations
Santos wore shorts and trainers for the wedding day, while his new wife wore a stunning white dress. The couple shared their love on Instagram posts. Three years on, Freire celebrated her 25th birthday earlier this summer, and Santos marked the occasion with an astonishingly large bouquet of roses that she appeared delighted to receive, based on an Instagram snap.
In a gushing tribute, Santos wrote: "Today the woman of my life is turning 25. I thank God so much for the wife you are, the woman you are, the mother you are, and the daughter you are."
Family and move to United
He added: "I know that all of us who are around you and live with you, including me and our children, are very proud of you! Thank you for so much, I am very happy by your side, every moment we spend together, happy moments, not so happy moments, but in all of them we always stay together, and with God."
The couple have two children together. Santos has signed a five-year deal with United and will hope to be involved as Michael Carrick's side look to get off to a winning start against newly promoted Hull. Speaking earlier in pre-season, he said: "I feel so comfortable [at United]. Since my first day, I felt at home and I'm so happy to be here and to play very well."
