A home renovation enthusiast has gone viral after ignoring advice against painting her bathroom brown, with the dramatic transformation stunning viewers on TikTok.
Kelsea, whose bathroom was previously plain white and too minimalist for her taste, decided to paint it brown despite friends attempting to talk her out of it. The before-and-after video she posted on TikTok drew widespread praise, with Kelsea calling the room her "favourite room in the house" after the makeover.
Trusting the Vision
In the video caption, Kelsea wrote: "From a very basic newbuild cloakroom to one of my favourite rooms in the house. Sometimes you just have to trust the vision...and ignore everyone telling you not to paint it brown!"
Before the transformation, the room lacked character, but the chosen shade of brown gave the space a stunning look and even made it appear larger. Finishing touches included a larger mirror that created an illusion of more space, artificial greenery that added harmony, and a gold-toned tap that tied the design together.
Viewer Reactions
Comments on the video praised the work, with one person noting, "This wouldn't have worked without that stunning panelling," a point Kelsea agreed with. Several sceptics admitted the result was "insanely better" than they expected for a brown-painted bathroom.
One admirer remarked: "This is stunning. Nobody ever gets the vision until it's completed." Some viewers described the transformation as "luxury."
While the total cost of the renovation was not disclosed, Kelsea revealed in follow-up videos that the paint was Valspar's 'Espresso Escape', priced at around £24, addressing the "most asked question" about the colour choice.
