Tonight's Episode
Tonight's episode will explore a brutal case of one mum who faces every parent's worst nightmare. Angela Cannings discovered her then 18-week-old son Matthew unresponsive in his cot, but police soon discovered she had also lost two other infants in similar circumstances - placing her at the centre of a murder investigation.
Despite maintaining her innocence and no direct evidence, Angela was subsequently jailed in 2002 before a lengthy fight to clear her name. She was freed the following year after the evidence of paediatrician Sir Roy Meadow was discredited.
Viewers will witness the impact on the family as well as how Angela came to be jailed before being freed, as well as other similar cases which were later overturned. Convictions Gone Bad with Will Mellor airs tonight at 9pm on Crime+Investigation.
