A Scottish town has been branded the 'most depressing place on Earth' in a scathing online review. Alloa in Clackmannanshire was described on the website ILiveHere as 'possibly the most depressing place on Earth' by one unhappy resident, who also called it 'a small waste bin of society' and claimed it 'sports nothing but pubs and bookies'.
Review likens Alloa to 'apocalyptic zombie movie'
The review adds: 'Jesus, why anybody would live in such a place is beyond me. Especially when it looks like a scene from an apocalyptic zombie movie.' The writeup is undeniably brutal, but Alloa remains a popular place to live and visit among many Scots.
Located in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, Alloa sits six miles east of Stirling and 13 miles west of Dunfermline. It is a bustling town with historic buildings, independent shops, and renowned food and drink venues.
Alloa's industrial heritage and attractions
Home to approximately 14,500 people, Alloa was a major industrial centre during the Industrial Revolution, known for wool, weaving, glassmaking, and brewing.
