Wayne and Coleen Rooney spent their rare free weekend climbing Mount Snowdon, days after their new Disney+ reality show, The Real Rooneys, launched on the streaming platform.
The 10-part series gives audiences a look into the lives of the Liverpool-born couple during a pivotal year as they balance their careers with family time with their four sons, Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass. The first eight episodes are available to watch online, and the couple have been on a busy press run, including a premiere in Leicester Square and appearances on shows like This Morning.
Surprise weekend plan
Instead of relaxing, Coleen, 40, shared a photo from the top of Mount Snowdon, writing: "After a busy week …. What do we decide to do with our very rare free weekend…. Climb Snowdon."
Fans reacted warmly in the comments. Haroon wrote: "I'm on Snowdon all the time and Wayne chooses the one weekend I'm not there. Well done guys!!!" Staying true to their roots
Wayne and Coleen have been married since 2008. The former Everton striker told PA: "Nothing drastically changed for us. We were just two kids from Croxteth and behind closed doors nothing changed. We are still those two kids who just annoy each other too."
Reflecting on the increased attention, Coleen said: "We were both also really young and I don’t think we thought about it too much. I think that comes as you get older and people say now ‘oh you were so young’, but at the time we just dealt with it. We didn’t dwell on it. Now it’s good because Kai is 16 and we can pass on advice and tell him that he will make mistakes, but to learn from them and not to repeat them. It’s just life isn’t it?"
