Richard E. Grant's 'The Little Vampire' Hailed as Perfect Halloween Watch

Richard E. Grant's 2000 cult classic film The Little Vampire has been hailed as a "perfect family Halloween watch" by fans, following the actor's recent appearance on The Celebrity Traitors.

During Friday night's episode (Oct 2), the celebrities were forced into underground coffins during a challenge which saw them being buried alive. While some were freaked out by the gruesome activity, Grant confessed he was used to being in a coffin after playing a vampire in the noughties classic, which is set in Scotland.

A Nostalgic Role in a Scottish Setting

The 69-year-old actor plays the vampire Frederick Sackville-Bagg in the family fantasy film, which follows the story of an American boy called Tony who moves to Scotland from California and is struggling to make friends. One night a young injured vampire flies into his bedroom called Rudolph, and the two boys form an unlikely friendship.

Tony, played by Stuart Little child star Jonathan Lipnicki, struggles to keep his vampire friend a secret and tries to protect him from the town's local vampire hunter. Richard E. Grant plays Rudolph's father in the iconic children's horror film.

Fans Reminisce Over Childhood Favourite

The film is sure to be a nostalgic watch for many, with viewers taking to Rotten Tomatoes to reminisce over one of their favourite childhood movies. One wrote: "They just don't make kids movies full of magic the way they used to. What an adorable movie about kids being kids, but a kid being a good kid."

A second commented: "I loved this movie as a kid one of my favourite Halloween movies right next to the Wizard of Oz and Hocus Pocus one of my favourite Halloween movies ever of all time." A third added: "If you came into this movie as an adult expecting to see anything other than a kids movie than this isn't for you. I watched this movie as a child and I loved it then just as I do now, dripping with nostalgia. Wonderful movie."

Scottish Locations Praised

Another praised its Scottish filming locations, writing: "Possibly one of the best films since Local Hero to showcase Scotland's wonderful coastline." Someone else noted that it is a great family watch, penning: "Perfect family movie to get in the spirit of Halloween. Appropriate for all ages, but might be a little frightful for children under five."

The Little Vampire is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
