The Princess of Wales is claimed to have shown “who she really is” in a moment caught on camera this week, prompting a wave of comments from social media users about her personality.
On Wednesday (September 30), Kate travelled to the village of Pulborough to mark the 50th anniversary of the West Sussex Minibus. A video of her encounter with a young girl has since emerged and drawn widespread attention.
Moment with unwell girl praised online
In the clip, Kate stops to chat with a little girl who was not feeling well. Rather than shaking hands as she usually does, she gently strokes the child's hair and offers her well wishes.
The video was posted with the caption: “How sweet she is with the little girl who wasn’t feeling well. Not shaking hands like she usually does, instead stroking her hair.”
Social media users were quick to comment. One said: “She's so brilliant. And 110% authentic and normal.” Another added: “Makes you love her even more.”
Public reaction to the Princess
A third replied: “That's awesome! She sure takes time with the people which is lovely. Love her outfit as well. But that looked like such a relaxed, intimate meeting with people of that village.”
A fourth commented: “I’ve just stopped and watched and forgot what I was doing. The Princess is the best version of a human.” One more wrote: “Catherine is a 'natural' with children. They love her.”
According to reports, a small group of locals gathered to catch a glimpse of the Princess when it was known she had arrived in Pulborough. She shook people's hands, FaceTimed someone and took time to converse with the children present.
Visit to mark minibus anniversary
Kate travelled to the village to mark the 50th anniversary of the West Sussex Minibus, which has a team of volunteers who help transport the elderly across the local area in its fleet of vehicles.
She first surprised Stella Drewett, 94, at her bungalow, before helping her to the bus as they embarked on a short journey to pick up other passengers. The group later ended up at Pulborough Village Hall, where a weekly lunch club offers a welcoming space for people to come together for activities and conversation.
