Comedian Nish Kumar celebrated his sold-out Newcastle gig on Friday night with cocktails at one of the city's most highly rated pubs, the Mean Eyed Cat on Percy Street.
Kumar performed his latest tour, Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy, at the Tyne Theatre on Westgate Road, where there wasn't a spare seat to be had. After delighting his audience, he headed to the micro pub, which has earned a loyal following and is widely regarded as one of the best in Newcastle.
Pub praises 'heroic' Lageritas
The Mean Eyed Cat shared a photo of Kumar smiling behind the bar on its Instagram grid, alongside a congratulatory message. The pub wrote: 'Congrats @mrnishkumar on your sell out Newcastle show but most importantly for putting away a heroic amount of Lageritas. Hope you aren't suffering too much today. Come see us again soon.'
Fans responded positively to the post, with one regular commenting 'What a guy!' and another writing 'Love this!'.
Comedy pedigree
Kumar, a former Durham University student, is known for his appearances on shows including Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and BBC's The Mash Report. The visit adds to the city's thriving comedy scene, which includes venues such as The Stand and the Tyne Theatre hosting regular acts.
