Mum Turns Carluke Home into Barbie Dreamhouse with Slide

A mother has invested £5,000 to turn her home into a Barbie Dreamhouse, complete with a pink slide. Nicole Watt, 27, from Carluke, spent six months planning and decorating the exterior of her property with a Barbie-themed mannequin, palm tree, dressing table, and surfboard.

Inspired by Her Daughters

Nicole, who has three daughters—Ariah, eight, and twins Aryn and Ayda, both five—said the idea came from their love of Barbie. The house now features a pink disco ball, flamingos, and beach toys. Most of the decorations were built from wood, pink paint, and upcycled materials.

Family Effort

Nicole credited her parents for their help: "Their papa and gran made the house, the surfboards, pantries, lampposts and palm trees - everything Barbie requires." She added that the twins, who often disagree on toys, both love Barbies, making the theme perfect.

Community Attraction

The Barbie Dreamhouse was created as part of the Carluke and District Gala Day. It required three stages of construction and scaffolding. The house has gone viral on TikTok, drawing visitors from afar. Nicole noted, "There's been people travelling from all over to see it."

Online Praise

Locals have applauded the effort on social media. One commenter said, "This has been a lovely effort for her girls and the neighbourhood." Another added, "This is bloody brilliant so much fun." Many have urged Nicole to keep the display up beyond its planned takedown.

Nicole plans to dismantle the house soon, as she awaits scaffolding. She said, "I can't see out of my windows because of the backdrop. It's already been up for a week."
