Meghan and Harry's Children's School Privacy: Opinion
Meghan and Harry School Privacy: Opinion

There are plenty of things that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have done that people can debate, question or criticise, but this time, I am standing firmly on their side. The couple made the decision to return to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and yes, that will inevitably bring an interest in their lives. However, there is a clear distinction between knowing they are back in the UK and invading two young children's privacy and wanting to know where they go to school.

No Public Disclosure of School Details

One thing remains clear: Meghan and Harry have never publicly revealed where they have decided to send their children to school. They haven't handed over the address, invited photographers to stand outside of the school or told the world where Archie and Lilibet will spend their days. If people have independently found out where the children attend school, that doesn't make the information free for all to know.

Criticism Misses the Mark

This is where I believe some of the criticism aimed at Meghan and Harry completely misses the mark. They are not asking for the world to pretend they don't exist or to live in Britain without anyone seeing them; they are simply asking for people to respect the privacy of their children. Archie and Lilibet didn't ask to be born into one of the world's famous families, and Meghan and Harry don't owe anyone information that should be theirs alone to know.

Meghan and Harry will undoubtedly have known that their return to the UK would come with questions, but why they have chosen to return does not include invading Archie and Lilibet's privacy. People don't have to like Meghan and Harry; they don't have to agree with every move or decision they make, or with the way they handle the media, but surely we can separate our feelings about two adults from the privacy of two young children.

Parents' Right to Decide

For me, this isn't about being a Meghan and Harry supporter. Knowing the family is now living in the UK is one thing; seeking out where their children are going to school is another. As parents, the couple have every right to decide what information about their children they make public. Yes, Meghan has shared pictures of her children on one of the biggest social media platforms, but she has not chosen to share this information. One thing stands: information about Archie and Lilibet's school is quite simply no one's business.
