Emmerdale actor Chris Coghill has shared a photo with his rarely seen daughter, Billie, as the pair coordinated in maroon Adidas tops. The star spent the day with his 20-year-old daughter, with the two matching outfits.
Co-parenting with Lisa Faulkner
Chris shares daughter Billie with fellow soap actor Lisa Faulkner, who played Fi Browning, also known as Sophie Willmott-Brown in EastEnders. Chris and Lisa adopted Billie when she was only 17 months old and have continued to co-parent after their split in 2011, with Lisa confirming in 2025 that they still have a WhatsApp group chat with Billie.
'As an only child, you are your parents' one and only, and Billie knows that, me and her dad are very hands-on and chatty, and she speaks to us both all the time – we have our WhatsApp group with the three of us,' she said.
'It's lovely to still have her here, but the thought of her at 19… it's a funny age. You're still young: an adult in one way and, in another, really not. It's nice seeing how kids change, how they have different opinions and outlooks, and seeing how much we can learn from them.'
Billie's busy life
Speaking to Hello, Lisa went on to say: 'She's so busy either working or travelling, which is what she wants to do at the moment. She saves up more, and goes, and saves up for the next trip, then she comes back home, and I'm like, 'Yay, you're home! We can watch Gilmore Girls, we can have tea, we can have chocolate'. She is my daughter and my friend: the relationship changes, of course it does, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life, though I know she'll fly the nest eventually.'
While Kev was originally portrayed as a deeply unhinged villain, Chris' comic timing and the vulnerability he imbued in his character saw him quickly become a fan favourite.
Return to Emmerdale
'I always knew the timescale that first bit was going to play out over, but as we did it and, to an extent, the way I was doing it, it was like, 'Oh… The writing's slightly different.'
'It became a bit funnier and more endearing. He had a bit more of a vulnerable side.
'There was scenes where he can go from being a psycho, to vulnerable to quite slapstick and hapless, then back to being scary again, all in one scene, which is quite unusual to do.
Chris went on to explain how, barely a month after his departure, the powers that be at Emmerdale invited him back.
'When I left the first time, they said, 'This wasn't what we intended to happen,' and then they asked me to come back within about five weeks.
'This time, now I've come back, there's a lot more of the sympathetic side coming out. I'm doing that but I'm still switching every now and then. It's like a playground, isn't it?
'You can do everything all at once, and they let me! I start messing about with bits in scenes. I'm really liking it.'
And the fan reaction? Still positive, says Chris: 'I've not had that many in-depth conversations with people on the street, but the ones I have had have been people going, 'Kev!' And you go, 'Yeah!'
'You're great!' 'Thank you!' Nobody's had a go at me.'
