Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has revealed how one of his biggest pet peeves sparked an early row with fellow judge Anton Du Beke, admitting he was left 'fuming' after being kept waiting.
Podcast Revelations
The television stars discussed their friendship and pet peeves during an episode of their new podcast, Judgemental, where Anton challenged Craig to reveal the habit that irritates him most. Anton said: 'I'm gonna tell you about the thing that drives you mad, gives you the ump. Drives you crazy. I know, I know exactly what it is — being late.'
Craig agreed the issue had been at the heart of one of their earliest disagreements, explaining that punctuality is something he takes extremely seriously.
The Fiery Exchange
'Well, now this is where our biggest argument will be. And this is where our first argument actually was, because friendship for me went out the window. If I am sat in a car waiting for you, I will leave. I will wait five minutes and I will leave, darling,' he said.
Recalling the incident, Craig revealed he became increasingly frustrated while waiting for Anton, who had been stopping to meet fans. 'When I was in that car, I was fuming because you're there signing autographs, going "Oh yes, darling," doing all of that. And I thought, if you want to sign autographs, come down half an hour early. And I gave you a right b******ing. You've never done it since.'
Anton admitted the dressing down had the desired effect. 'She went mad, she went mad!' he joked. 'So, from that point on, I always get in the car before him now.'
Family Life and New Podcast
The light-hearted exchange came shortly after Anton opened up about family life and the challenges of school holidays during the debut episode of the pair's podcast. Craig had asked his co-host what he had been 'quietly judging' recently, prompting Anton to reflect on a busy week spent with his children.
'This has been quite a long week. I have been doing half-termy things with the children. Do you know, I actually quite like it when they are at school. It's a bit calmer. It's a bit easier for me when they are at school,' he said.
Anton, 53, shares nine-year-old twins George and Henrietta with his wife Hannah. The dancer and broadcaster has teamed up with fellow Strictly judge Craig, 61, for Judgemental, a weekly podcast that sees the pair offer their verdicts on everything from showbiz headlines to everyday dilemmas submitted by listeners.
Describing the new project, Craig said: 'Darling, everyone knows I love a verdict. This podcast gives us the chance to have an opinion on absolutely everything — from the fabulous to the frightful — and I couldn't be more thrilled.'
Anton added: 'Craig and I have always enjoyed a good gossip, and now we finally have somewhere to put all our very important opinions. It's joyful, ridiculous and, naturally, extremely good listen! Join us.'
