Comic Con North East made its return to the Utilita Arena Newcastle on Saturday, welcoming fans of pop culture for the first day of its latest edition. The event, which first launched in the city in 2023, brings together enthusiasts of film, television, gaming, anime, comics and cosplay.
Star Guests and Meet-and-Greet Opportunities
This year's line-up includes stars from the Harry Potter franchise, with Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, and Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley, among those in attendance on Saturday. Other notable guests include Tom Payne from The Walking Dead, Alec Utgoff from Stranger Things, Neil Fanning, the voice of Scooby Doo, and Lindsay Wagner from The Bionic Woman.
Fans enjoyed live Q&A panels, where stars shared behind-the-scenes stories and career highlights. The event also featured a range of props and set builds, allowing attendees to get up close with themed displays and immersive experiences.
Cosplay, Gaming and Exhibitors
The arena hosted a cosplay celebration, with fans dressed as characters such as Beetlejuice, Spider Noir and Darth Nihlus. A gaming zone offered both modern and retro gaming experiences, while artists and exhibitors sold artwork, comics, collectibles, memorabilia, apparel and fan merchandise.
The convention continues with two more days of entertainment and a new batch of special guests offering meet-and-greet opportunities.
