A beautician from Wirral, Elle had her whole life ahead of her. But she never returned home after spending Christmas Eve at the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village. Her murder came as a shock to people across Merseyside and beyond, and soon became a nationwide investigation.
Tonight on Channel 5, the series Murder Scene: The Incident Room will retell what happened through the eyes of real detectives who worked on the case.

First aired in 2023, Murder Scene: The Incident Room is a true crime series that explores real-life murder investigations across the UK. The first episode of a new six part series begins tonight on Channel 5. It is titled "Shooting in Cold Blood."

Mr Chapman was arrested on January 10, 2023, at a Tesco in Newtown, Powys, Wales, after fleeing to a holiday home following Ms Edward's murder.
In July 2023, Mr Chapman was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, and firearm offences at Liverpool Crown Court. He received a life sentence with a minimum term of 48 years.
New episodes of the crime series will air every Wednesday on Channel 5, with the next instalment dropping on October 7 at its usual 8pm slot. Episodes can also be streamed on Channel 5 online.
