As the new university term gets underway, thousands of students are returning to Newcastle or arriving in the city for the first time. Freshers Week offers a week of events and socialising opportunities for new students to get to know new friends and a new city.
For many first-year students, this marks the first time away from home, and the chance to go out every night in a vibrant city like Newcastle can be very appealing. The city's cafes, shops, bars and clubs are welcoming Newcastle and Northumbria University students, with Eldon Square hosting a student shopping event on Monday night.
