Wallace & Gromit are set to receive the Special Recognition Award at the 30th National Television Awards (NTAs) on Wednesday, 10th September 2025. The honour comes after the release of their latest film, Vengeance Most Fowl, which aired on Christmas Day 2024.
The stop-motion duo's most recent adventure achieved record-breaking viewership, with 21.6 million viewers within 28 days, making it the UK's biggest scripted programme since records began in 2002. The film was also nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2025 Oscars.
The Special Recognition Award will celebrate Wallace & Gromit's entire body of work over 36 years, since their debut in A Grand Day Out in 1989. A specially created acceptance film featuring the characters from their home on West Wallaby Street will be shown during the live broadcast on ITV1.
NTA host Joel Dommett commented: 'Wallace & Gromit aren’t just characters – they’re part of our cultural DNA. Generations have grown up laughing at Wallace’s madcap ideas and cheering for Gromit’s quiet brilliance. They’re clever, quintessentially British, and endlessly loveable.'
The National Television Awards 2025 will be broadcast live on ITV on Wednesday, 10th September from 8pm.
