Historic Slough Town FC Unveils New Minimalist Badge for 2026/27
Slough Town FC Reveals New Minimalist Crest for 2026/27 Season

Slough Town FC, a historic English football club with over 130 years of history, has unveiled a new minimalist badge ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club, currently competing in the National League South, is known for its memorable FA Cup runs in 2004/05 and 2017/18, reaching the second round on both occasions.

A New Visual Identity

Founded in 1889, Slough Town is older than several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea. Their previous badge featured the borough coat of arms along with the club's motto, "Serve With Honour." The new crest adopts a modern, minimalist design, displaying the letters "STFC" inside a navy circle, accompanied by a navy star.

The club's statement highlighted that the star "reflects the club's thriving academy and commitment to identifying, developing and nurturing future stars, while also celebrating Slough's unique place in scientific history."

CEO's Perspective

Chief executive officer Ashley Smith explained the decision: "Updating our club crest was not a decision we took lightly, but it was a necessary step to forge our own unique identity. Our goal was to modernise the look to reflect a cleaner, stronger Slough Town FC, one that enhances our presence in an increasingly digital world."

Smith added that the 12-month process involved partnering with a branding expert and consulting a panel with over 125 years of combined association with the club, ensuring a balance between progress and respect for history.

Hidden Design Nods to History

The badge includes a hidden telescope pointed at the star, a tribute to Sir William Herschel, who discovered Uranus in 1781 and later lived in Slough, where he built a 40-foot telescope. The club noted that the crest "represents where Slough Town is heading while respecting where we have come from."

The new design aims to be bold, distinctive, and instantly recognisable across match shirts, scarves, merchandise, social media, and digital platforms. The club plans to gradually incorporate the new crest throughout Arbour Park and club operations, updating signage and branding over time.

Fan Reactions

The club acknowledged that changing a football club's crest is a significant step and that supporters may hold differing views. However, they expressed hope that the new crest will come to represent cherished memories and successes.
