Channel 5 is set to broadcast a two-part true crime documentary titled 'Manhunt: The Child Snatcher 2' tonight, exploring the 1984 disappearance of seven-year-old Mark Tildesley from a funfair in Wokingham.
The series, which airs from 10pm, features interviews with police officers involved in the investigation and accounts from family members. The first episode, 'Child Snatchers: A Day at the Fair', details how Mark vanished while cycling to the fair, triggering a nationwide panic.
In the programme, a voiceover recounts: 'When the fair came to town it was so exciting. We watched Mark cycling off down to the fair. That was the last day anyone ever saw Mark.' Mark's friend Charlie O'Malley adds: 'There's a side of me that almost wishes I didn't know what happened to Mark – it's truly horrific what these people have done, it's pure evil.'
The second episode, airing at 11.05pm, concludes the documentary, which Channel 5 describes as revealing 'the depravity of child abusers'. Both episodes are available to stream online after broadcast.
