Every villain comes with a ticking clock, and Carl Webster is no exception. The question is, will he leave Coronation Street as a changed man or in a box?
Carl, played by Jonathan Howard, is arguably one of the most morally bankrupt characters on the cobbles. He seduced his uncle Kevin Webster's wife, committed a hit and run on Tyrone Dobbs that left him in a wheelchair, caused a multi-car pile-up that killed the local vicar, and gaslit his mother Debbie into taking the blame for the crash.
Two Reasons for Sympathy
Despite his villainy, there are two reasons to feel sympathy for Carl. First, he grew up believing his mother was his sister, leading to a difficult upbringing. Second, he is ultimately a loser who cannot stop sabotaging himself.
Debbie Turns Her Back
After Debbie was released from prison, she paid Carl two thousand pounds to stay away. But Carl continued his schemes, leading to a confrontation at the garage where a car fell on him.
Now, with his exit confirmed, Carl will seek help from dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley, leading to a tense showdown involving a gun. Will he finally do right by his family?
